Updated Global Talent Stream Occupations

The Global Talent Stream (GTS) allows employers who are either:

  • (A) considered innovative and who require specialized talent, or
  • (B) seeking certain highly-skilled workers as per a prescribed list

to take advantage of streamlined processing procedures in hiring foreign workers. Among other benefits, and perhaps most notably, ordinarily-required LMIA recruitment efforts can be bypassed.

The list of eligible occupations for Category B above does change from time to time. The government has announced that the list will change at this time, with additions and deletions.

The following occupation will now be added to the list:

  • Computer network technicians (NOC 2281).

The following occupations will now be deleted from the list:

  • Engineering managers (NOC 0211),
  • Architecture and science managers (NOC 0212).

In addition, the program requires certain ‘wage floors’, which have been updated as well (see https://bit.ly/2IBDyfD for specific amounts).

Though implementation is immediate, there is a grace period until the end of August during which applications for the occupation being removed from the list will still be accepted.
